Chanel Mademoiselle Privé: Where Decadence Meets Elegance

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

You’ve read about the Mademoiselle Privé exhibition held in Seoul back in June, but did you know all about the watch bearing the very same name from Chanel’s well-rounded watch collection? Itself shaped like a perfect circle, the Mademoiselle Privé is no ordinary watch, but rather an artisanal jewel that brings together high jewellery know-how and time-keeping perfection thanks to the unsurpassed skill of the Métiers d’Artcraftsmanship used in fine watchmaking and high jewellery. The epitome of the saying ‘the devil is in the details’ is clear with the Mademoiselle Privé, but make no mistake though, the devil here refers to the gorgeous patterns (often adorned with diamonds) set within the otherwise simple and round case.

Another chapter into Chanel’s creative journey, the jewellery watch beautifully showcases the world of Gabrielle Chanel and her cherished emblems of love that’s centred around different themes, with this year being one that’s all about the stained-glass windows of Aubazine abbey in south-western France where she grew up as a child.

Depicting the same motifs found on the windows that are set with diamonds on the watch faces, there are 3 different designs, each limited to just 5 pieces each and individually numbered. The 37.5 mm wide Mademoiselle Privé is stunning, the 18K white gold case set with 552 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling approximately 3.03 carats. The watch’s 18K white gold crown is also set with a diamond of around 0.19 carats.

With the Mademoiselle Privé, it is more than just a watch that simply keeps time. It is a watch that’s also a piece of high jewellery and it is this duality that Coco Chanel herself cherished. The country girl who grew up and found herself the centre of Parisian chic. Or like how her ladylike garments actually had roots in menswear which she adapted for herself.

Decadent, elegant and perfect in every way, you can find Mademoiselle Privé timepieces at Chanel’s Fine Jewellery Boutique that’s located at #01-04 within Ngee Ann City.

Ralph Lauren introduces two new watches in RL67 Safari Chronometer collection

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Ralph Lauren watches reflects the designer’s individuality and taste, and like him, they never go out of style. It represents a passion, a desire, and a dream. One such passion is his love for adventure as is evident from his RL67 Safari collection. According to the man himself “The romance of safari is a dream that I have returned to many times. It is an adventure, a world of refinement set against a rugged and powerful landscape.”

We first saw the Safari chronometer in 2013 when he launched the RL67 Safari Chronometer watch in both 45mm and 39mm case sizes. Rugged in design yet elegant, the durable blackened “aged” steel case holds an azuré anthracite dial finished with a matte varnish and finished with a faded olive green canvas strap that pays tribute to the visual accents of an explorer’s shoulder bag.

In February 2017, Ralph Lauren introduced two new models of the RL67 Safari collection in a larger 50mm size, which is one the largest in the market The RL67 Safari Chronometer comes in two options – the Safari Grand Date 50mm Camo Dial and the Safari Grand Date 50mm Black Dial.

The azure varnished camo dial timepiece much alike the original one features an “aged” steel case and showcases a dark olive green alligator strap. The Camouflage pattern is an extension of Ralph Lauren’s well-known ability to combine elegance and fashion with utility. This water-resistant chronograph is powered by the RL3105 self-winding chronometer movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. Being Ralph Lauren each movement is certified by the COSC, the independent Swiss testing center that adheres to rigorous standards to ensure the reliability and standards of watches.

The Safari Grand Date 50mm black dial model complements its “aged” steel case and azure matte-varnished anthracite dial with a “weathered” olive green canvas strap. Like its predecessor, the classic olive green strap pays tribute to an explorer’s shoulder bag and conveys the authentic spirit of safari.

Reading the dial is a breeze for both models with its large numbers and hour and minute hands are treated with black Super-LumiNova, which glows in the dark. An additional selection of canvas straps is available separately, including blue, black and faded versions known as “watered down” – all lined with leather. Ralph Lauren himself carefully selected the colors, each reminiscent of the spirit of safari and adventure. Not many know that when Ralph Lauren started out as a designer, he always dreamed of going to Africa. He says. “Safari is about living the life you want and pushing yourself beyond your limitations. It’s the dream of experiencing the wild and seeing the farthest reaches of the world.”

The RL67 Safari collection makes for the perfect couple safari watch. You can embark on your ‘Out of Africa’ experience with the handsome, rugged RL67 Safari Chronometer men’s 50mm watch while your partner adorns the RL67 Safari Chronometer 39mm watch. Decked out in a khaki shirt and cargo trousers and this chronometer, you will blend in perfectly with the foliage of the African savannah. Kitted to perfection with its rugged looks and precision mechanical engine, this is the ideal travel companion for your adventurous soul and one that will never go out of style.

The Hysek Colossal Grande will make you rethink how complex watch complications can be

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

One of the most complex vertical linear displays ever constructed, the watch boasts of 1080 components and took three years to develop. The movement of the watch is dubbed the HW80 caliber and takes 240 hours to assemble. The tourbillon beats at a fast rate of 4Hz and it has a balance wheel made out of titanium and a balance spring made out of a special alloy called PE4000. Only available in 18k rose gold, the Hysek Colossal Grande Complication measures 44mm wide, 57mm lug to lug, and is 18mm thick. Instead of a circular display using flat gears, the Colossal features roller-based numeric linear displays that use vertical gears, and unlike other watches of similar kind, it displays time in the 24-hour format.

Underneath the time display, there’s a large three-dimensional moon that also serves as the moon phase indicator. To the left of the moon phase indicator is a dual-timezone indicator, and to the right is the leap year indicator for the linear perpetual calendar below at 6 o’clock. A power reserve indicator can be read off the smaller sapphire window on the right side of the case. The Hysek Colossal Grande Complication is limited to just 8 pieces, and although the price has not been revealed yet, but the manufacturer confirms that it will be under $700,000.

Porsche and Chopard honor Le Mans with limited edition time pieces

The bezel is studded with eight blackened screws while the crown is fashioned to resemble a steering wheel. The dial is flanked by two distinctly red rubber pushers. The car analogy is taken further in the case middle, which is made to resemble the cooling fins in the car’s engine.
The watch is powered by a Chopard Caliber 03.05M. Other important features include a 60-minute power reserve and a flyback function. The mechanical self-winding chronograph movement has been COSC certified. The very rare blend of endurance racing and time-telling will retail for about $14,370.

Chloé "Janis" Anklet, $298.05, available até "Janis" Anklet, $298.05, available at

What. Is. Happening? Jewelry preferences from my teenage years are suddenly back into my adulthood life. First, it was chokers, then it was hoop earrings. Now, I have the sudden urge to sport an anklet this summer, which was my accessory of choice through high school during trips down the shore with the family.

The anklet originally caught my attention again when Calvin Klein's (former creative director) Francisco Costa showcased a gold T-bar version on the runway for its spring 2016 show. Although the jewelry piece was paired with sneakers, I would much prefer teaming this more delicate anklet by Chloé — Calvin Klein's design is nowhere to be found on the retail front — with a pair of leather slide sandals, which, luckily, is a big step up from the Havaianasflip-flops my teenage self would wear while walking along the boardwalk with a Kohr Brothers frozen custard in tow.
